Our Specialized Programming Service provides Behaviour Management Programming for
individuals experiencing behavioural problems and their families or care providers. This
service is available for children with Autism, Pervasive Developmental Delay, Tourettes
Syndrome, Developmental Delays, Aspergers, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder,
and any individual experiencing Speech and Language delays.
The service focuses on the negative behaviour that the individual exhibits and to assess if the
behaviour is related to any other area of exceptionality. We assess all inappropriate behaviours and observe and
document reactions to the behaviours and consequences. In addition, we evaluate antecedents to the
behaviours and develop an intervention plan that will extinguish the negative behaviours and promote positive
ones. Base-line data is collected in specific cases prior to implementing a behavioural plan.
Our program outlines target behaviours as well as any antecedents where applicable. Positive reinforcement will
be used to deal with the negative behaviour.
The Behaviour Management Program can be used to decrease negative behavior and increase parent/guardian
confidence in dealing with the individual. It can also be utilized and incorporated into teaching or therapeutic programs.
The service is available in the home and school environments. Parents can also access this service if their
child is experiencing behavioural issues in community recreational programs. This will allow the individual to
integrate effectively into their peer group.
All Behaviour Management Programs will be designed by the Service Co-ordinator and
regularly reviewed with the family and behaviour management specialist providing the service.
